The other day I was wondering why my d/l speed in BitTorrent is so slow compare with others, (i understand that the more seed and the faster the peers u/l, the faster i d/l), then I found a faq about improving d/l limit with BT by doing Port Fowarding to my router according www.portforward.com ..
After a series of step by step procedure, I set my router to open its port from 6881-6889, afterward, I was able to achieve maximum speed that I never experience before.. My line is capped at 1.5mb but i was only able to d/l files at 20-30 average, after I foward the port in the router, I can see tremendous improvement, i am able to get up as fast as 150k/sec sometimes, if there are enough seeds.

Everything was all good until I found out my connection drops once a while, sometimes it resumes after a few minutes and sometimes i does not.. I'm not sure if it is the local ISP problem because I can still see all the LED blinking on my DSL modem.. And this thing really frustrate me cuz like when you leave it to d/l one night, the next day you come back it's only completed by 5% or so..

Any input will be appreciated,,

does everything else drops or just the torrent? it could be the tracker having problems, could be your isp having problems, could be your equipment, could be alot of things.

does a single torrent drop, or all torrents drop simultaneously?

but sounds like your isp or the torrent tracker. what about your u/l ratio?

not just the torrents but everything else too.. i couldn't browse with IE and my chat clients all disconnect.

before i did port fowarding, it was slow d/ling but it never drop a connection (well. occasional ISP problem but that only happen like once 3 months or so) and this happens like 6-9 times a day.

call your isp to confirm if they experienced outages at the times you saw drops. maybe they don't like you uploading so much and cut you off intentionally.
