Connection drops randomly sharing cable through OpenBSD router?

Ok, I got tired of stupid 4 port router/switches dying on me every other week so I decided to take this old P150 Packard Bell and turn it into a cable router. My friend helped me setup OpenBSD on it and I thought it'd fix most of the problems. Here's the setup:

Packard Bell Router (OpenBSD)
|---------------------------|
1 network card to cable modem (3com CMX)
1 network card to FMI 8 port 10BaseT hub
|---------------------------|
2 computers to hub, one Win2k, one Win98

The problem is that when I'm browsing, the connection will *sometimes* drop and come back 2 seconds later. More frequently, it will just not connect to anything; no AIM, no web, ftp. Then 10 seconds later, it will work again. Can anyone help me figure this out? I don't get why it's dropping. Thanks!
