Hi,

If one IDE connector goes to the DVD and CD-RW/R, and one goes to the hard drive (and it is recommended not to pair up the hard drive with something slower), where do you connect an internal zip?

Thanks.

[And there are only two IDE connectors on the motherboard]

By what you are saying, the only place that you could hook it up would be with the hard drive, unless you buy a PCI controller card such as a Promise card that will let you have more IDE ports.

It won't slow down the hard drive unless you're trying to access both at the same time (like copying a file from the HD to the zip).
I would hook them up like this:

Channel 1: Master->Hard Drive
Slave->DVD drive

Channel 2: Master->Burner
Slave->Zip drive

Don't forget to adjust the jumpers if you switch them...
