Connecting Wireless and Wired Routers

I have a Netgear RP114 and a Linksys WRT54G. I have a DSL splitter in a distribution panel downstairs, two wired PC's in the same room upstairs, and a laptop with wireless. I would like to be able to use one of the routers to distribute a wired signal to several wal jacks in different rooms in the house and another router in the room upstairs to run the signal to the two wired PC's. I also want to have the wireless signal available in the house for the laptop.

Is there a way I can put the DSL modem and one router downstairs, then pick up the wired signal from that router with the 2nd router upstairs, using the 2nd router to send a wired signal to the two PC's? Thanks for any help.

Welcome to AnandTech network Forum.

A Regular Cat5e to a Wall jack from any of the regular port on the Netgear will distribute the LAN/Internet signals to the wall jacks.

Using a Crossover cable from a wall jack to a regular port on the Linksys would make the Linksys capable to provide three additional ports + Wireless.

The Linksys as to be configured as described on this page, http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Thanks very much for the quick help, Jack. I read the linked info and it sounds like I can put the wireless downstairs at the modem then use the old Netgear to pick up both PC's upstairs. That looks like the best solution to me. Then I can continue to use the security settings of the newer Linksys wireless to firewall the entire system.
