Hi,

I just got a laptop and would like to connect it with my home computer occasionally. Laptop runs Win ME and my home PC runs dual boot Win ME and Win 2K. Both computers have a 10\100 Mbit NIC installed and I have no trouble conneting them in Wn ME - Win ME environment. The trouble starts when I try to connect the two computers while running Win 2K on my home PC. I can "see" my laptop from my PC and do all the usual stuff (manage shared folders etc.), and I can see my PC from my laptop, but when I try to open it to see the shared folders, I get the message: \\Bandit is not accesible. No permission to access resource.

Can anyone please help me?

Thank you in advance.

I've got exactly the same problem! What do you mean, "enable guest account?" You mean to log in as "guest?" I tried making a new account "share" because my other two accounts, administrator and xxxxxxxxxx do not have passwords.

I thought maybe the problem was that my Win2K machine does not require passwords and automatically boots up loggin in to xxxxxxxxxxx with administrator priveleges.

I read someplace NOT to use the same computer name on a dual boot machine, so I changed that also.

None of the above works. When I try to expand my Windows 2000 machine, I get a prompt to log in to \\win2000\ipc$, but no matter what password I try, or no password, it rejects it.:)

Create an account in Win2K, and use that account to log into WinME. Ive had to reboot both computers to get that to work sometimes.

Goto computer management in start, program -> admin tools or start, control panel -> admin tools, Goto system tools, Local User and groups, goto users. See if Guest account is enable or disable. and give access to guess account..

:) Thanks forcesho, I'll try that tonight! One other thing: The main thing I want to always share is the printer. When it didn't work the first time, I tried to add "Printer drivers for other operating systems," thinking that I need both a WINNT and a Windows 98SE driver installed under Windows2000.

But when I went throught this process, it eventually asked for the Windows 2000 Server disk. I only have Windows 2000 Professional, not Win2K server. Whatever it was looking for, it couldn't find on my Win2K Professional CD. :(

The printer is an HP 970CSE

:)HI , i am using dual OS in my pc too. Well as i know because win2000 is using NTFS thats why you cant enter the share folder in win me environment. This is some kind of protection for win NT.
