Tried AIM for video and audio conferencing, it's crap. Looking for something simple and light and so far NetMeeting seems to be the best option. However, the Microsoft Internet Directory apparently doesn't exist anymore (when you click on it it says it has bee replaced by features provided with Windows Messenger). So can you find others to connect to? Must you know their IP address to do it? I hope not, I'm not quite sure how I'd find out my IP on campus.

The IP address will do, but you won't be able to *receive* calls outside of your campus if there is a firewall (which is almost certain). Outgoing calls should not be a problem unless the other person is also behind a firewall.

They are!

I'm sure this is doable, though.

Well it seems from reviews that MSN Messenger 7 is the friendliest with firewalls. We will give it a shot.

But, when I am on campus, what sort of firewall will I be behind? Is it likely it will block it completely?
