my school has finally opened up their wifi network and gave us the key, when I put it in and connect the status changes to "automatic" and i cant do anything from there, they support people weren't able to help me either, does anyone here know of anythin I can do to try to resolve this? I have no security software installed on this computer at all, and when im home i have no trouble connecting to my wifi network.

when i put in the key and connect, it says "waiting for network" for a bit then it just changes the status to automatic.

I assume you clicked the connect button? Try repairing the connection once you have it configured. (Right click the adapter icon in Network Connections and click repair)

You're settings (encryption type, authentication, etc) must EXACTLY match what the school provided.

What authentication/encryption are your using?

network autentication : wpa-psk
and data encryption : tkip

also after i type in the key which and connect it gets alot shorter when i try to reconnect, is that because of the encryption?

i actually just tried to change the encryption settings, but it seems like they keep defaulting to the original ones.
