Connecting to NWN2 game on home lan via internet

Hi

I have a friend who has two computers on a home LAN. One of his computers is hosting Neverwinter Nights II and the other computer is joining the game via the "direct connect" option (his son). I want to join their "LAN" game over the internet. But the IP addres he gave me is a 192.168...... internal IP address. Naturally I can't connect to an internal IP because there are a gazillion of those right?

So, is it possible to connect to the NWN server on a home LAN via the internet? If so, how? Or am I forced to use the Gamespy service in this situation.

There must be a way to play Neverwinter Nights II without third party software over the internet. Sheesh, more than half the homes these days have 2 or more computers on home LANs but they still have to play multiplayer games via the internet.

BTW,

I tried also to connect via Gamespy to the host computer but it didn't connect, and gave a message that the server may be behind a firewall or network. The computer I am trying to connect is on a home LAN so the network issues still seems to be an issue.

I'll look at the hamachi solution too.

Well Nohr

I gave Himachi a try and it worked. Seems like NWN2 should have the facility to play without this 3rd party software but hey, it got the job done!

Thanks!
