I have the driver and cables, but I can't figure out how to access the phone. Wondows XP recognizes it and system hardware says everything is ok in USB and modem sections. What do I do now? Do I have to buy a program too?

From the phones I've seen? Yes.

Motorola, Siemens provides free software. Not sure about LG though.

What exactly are you trying to do? Connect to the 1XRTT network through your phone, or access the phone itself?

In order to do that kind of stuff, you'll need a program such as BitPim, available here: http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/ . I don't have any experience with BitPim, but many of the guys at http://www.howardforums.com do. Check out the Verizon Wireless and LG sections. Also check out the forums at http://www.Phonescoop.com if you're brave enough to deal with the crummy interface.

EDIT: Of course, that program is unsupported, and is powerful enough to majorly screw up your phone. Verizon wireless does sell software, but it's not available for every single phone they sell, and its functionality does vary by model.
