The ones without are cheaper, and if they can connect together just fine wihtout the dedicated uplink port, I'll go that rout and save a few $$.
 
the "uplink" usually signifies a port capable of auto-mdix, a requirement for connecting to another switch using a straight-through cable.

get a crossover cable to eliminate this need.
 
All newer soho switches have autosensing or mdx ports and do not have an uplink port, they can be cascaded using regular cat5 cable.
