Hello,

I just got the new cambridge soundworks playworks ps2000 speakers and I would like to try either the optical or Spdif input on the speakers.

Right now, I have a soundblaster live! + Mp3, and the only jack I have is the small yellow digital out. Obviously, there is no way I could connect that to my speakers.

Any other way other than buying the new live drive 2 with optical out?

I take that back.. I was able to use a 1/8 mini jack to 2 RCA Y cable, connect one end to the sound card, and one of the RCA cables onto the SPDIF input of the speakers and now I can use the playworks digital decoding capabilites!

Yep, that's exactly what I would have told you to do too :)

Creative actually makes an adapter that does the same thing and I think they will send it to you for free if you call them and ask... ;)

If you used the 1/8" plug to RCA connectors, do the two RCA connectors have different digital signals, or are they the same? Just wondering because this is how Turtle Beach has Santa Cruz owners using the digital out of the Versajack, and the "red" and "white" connectors output different digital signals (I think one had AC-3 encoded data, while the other was non-AC-3 digital signals).

this type of connection doesn't work under win2k, right?

Anyone have SPDIF working under win2k?
