Connecting Sony hifi system to system.

I have a very old Sony MHC-GN999DS mini hifi system. (http://www.sony.co.in/product/mhc-gn999ds)

When I bought this system I used to run it on CDs and now the cd changer is not working. I figure I rather use it from my laptop.

My laptop has a headphone out jack and the system has a RAC connector or a TRS Connector. I tried a EP JACK TO RAC connector but the output doesnt seem satisfactory.

Is there some way I can get better quality out of this whole setup ?

I am thinking of getting a USB to TS converter. Will that be any good ?
