Yeah, s-video would be very bad. I'd suggest DVI to HDMI adapter, and use PowerStrip with appropriate drivers to get custom resolution. My bet is that the 920x500p (hdtv derived) setting would be best for you. Realize this is less vertical area than 800x600, so you may not like it as a monitor. Being that it's CRT, it should hold up against burn in pretty good. I'd just set your PC to use the power saving feature of shutting the monitor off after so many minutes and never leave it on for extended unattended times. I use a rear projection and have no problems with burn in at all.
