I just purchased an ATI x1900xtx and have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs sound card in my computer. I have a hybrid rear projection/LCD HDTV that I would like to hook my pc up to. I also have a receiver which connects to a 5.1 sound system.

What I would like to do (if possible) is to hook the x1900xtx video card output to the component video input on the HDTV. Is this possible? Will I get good video quality when playing games?

I guess the second thing to hook up would be the sound. Can I hook the Audigy 2 ZS up to my receiver? My receiver has discrete front, surround, center and subwoofer rca inputs.

Finally, I guess I would need to get a wireless PC controller to be able to play from the couch.

Is all of this possible? What kind of connectors do I need for all of this? Would the audio and video quality be great? Thanks in advance !!

if u can ur best bet is to use dvi to hook to the HDTV

with my 6600GT i can hook through component, s video, RCA, or dvi

yea you can hook your sound card to the reciever, then you will need to leave your computer volume full (and adjust the reciever volume to suit), a plain old stereo mini -> RCA would work (which i do from my onboard sound to my JVC stereo, because it rapes computer speakers back and forth)
but since you have much nicer card u can use digital outputs i believe, you will need those wires

reply if u need more clarification on my blabber

I have an X1800XL and connected the card using the supplied component cable to a normal widescreen rear projection TV. I played Oblivion on it and it looked AWESOME!!! For me the desktop didn't look that great but once I started the game everything looked fine. I don't know how the resolutions were working but at my desktop I had to set it to 1164x684 (or something close to that) to keep a decent size but in game the resolution was still set to 1280x1024 and it filled the screen out nicely.

You should be able to hook up your Audigy as long as you have the proper cables. I myself used a cable that has the 1/8inch jack on one end and splits to the RCA jacks at the other end. Nothing fancy but was adequate for me. For audio I think the cables will be the biggest problem.

But yeah, definitely try hooking it up cause gaming is so nice on a big TV.

Thanks thilan29 - that is exactly what I want to do - play Oblivion on my big screen. Do you use the keyboard/mouse combo to play it on your big screen or do you have a gamepad that you use?
