Connecting Ipod touch to internet through computer bridge

So i'm not allowed to set up a router (any kind) at work. I do however have a personal laptop that has internet access (but blocked from accessing the internal network) via ethernet cable. I'm trying to configure it so that my ipod touch will recognize the laptop as a WIFI spot and connect through the internet.

I've tried setting up a network bridge, and using the Internet Connection Sharing wizard in XP to set it up but no luck. My touch just won't recognize it. Anybody have any suggestions on how to pull this off?
