(CROSS POSTED IN MOTHERBOARDS)

Hi,

I'm on the final part of the mechanical computer building process, and this part is really frustrating.

I'm attaching the small cables from the case to the motherboard, but I'm running into cables not matching.

Here's what I have matched:

SYS_FAN
POWER LED
SPEAKER
HDD LED
RESET SW
POWER SW

Here's a list of what I have unmatched (and it's a lot):

From power supply: POWER CONNECTOR -- 3 small holes

From case:

MICRO SW (from case) - 2 small holes

2.0 USB1 and 2.0 USB2, which both are 5 hole connector (SHIELD N, GND N, DATA+N, DATA-N, VCC N, where N = 1 or 2, depending on which cable it is) (from case)

EAR MIC (7 individual small hole connectors, with Return L, Return R, Mic IN, Mic VCC, Ear L, Ear R, and Ground) (from case)

IEEE 1394 (9 individual small hole connectors, with TPB+, TPB-, two VPs, two VGs, TPA+, TPA-, and a Ground) (from case)

From Motherboard:

MSG (Message LED / Power / Sleep LED) - 2 pins

NC (purple) - NC - 1 pin (I have no idea what this is)

F_AUDIO - 10 pins (MIC, GND, MIC_BIAS, Power, Front Audio R, Rear Audio R, Reserved, No Pin, Front Audio L, Rear Audio L) -- four of which are jumpered (5,6,9,10)

CD_IN (CD In connector) -- wasn't going to connect anything here, and instead just do digital audio through mechbgon guide

SUR_CEN -- 8 pins (SUR OUTL, SUR OUTR, GND, No Pin, CENTER_OUT, BASS_OUT, AUX_L, AUX_R)

SPDIF_IO: 6 pins (VCC, No Pin, SPDIF, SPDIFI, GND, GND)

IR_CIR: 10 Pins (VCC, NC, IRRX, GND, IRTX, NC, CIRRX, +5VSB, CIRTX, NC)

CLR_CMOS (I have no idea what this is, but open is normal, and short means clear CMOS)

F_USB2 (10 pin connector, with pin 9 blocked -- I connected a two USB thing to USB1 from the back)

Does the orientation of the connectors matter by the way? I can't find anything that orients these cables other than the colors that go to each end, and the print on the small cables itself.

Also, I have two fans in the case, but only one SYS_FAN on the motherboard. I connected the one in the back to that, and gave both fans power. Is there a way to give the fan in the front connection the the motherboard?

Thanks for any help. Hoping to hear shortly, otherwise I will sleep and hopefully can finish this beast of a project.
