Connecting EEE EP121 to projectors

Hi all,

I'm looking into buying a Asus EEE EP121 to replace my old notebook. It looks quite promising but one thing I'm not so sure is about the mini-HDMI port. As far as I can see, it's not going to be straight forward connecting that to a VGA projector. I've seen a mini-HDMI to VGA adapter but it's said to be only compatible with HP devices. TBH, I'm not convinced at all how well converting HDMK digital signal to VGA analogue would work. I've also seen a USB-VGA adaptor which I have to admit I never knew such thing exists! http://aluratek.com/usb-2-0-high-resolution-vga-adapter

I'd appreciate if anybody has done anything like this: connecting a tablet, be it android or Windows, etc to a projector and using it as a presentation tool.

Thanks,

You are going to have a hard time converting HDMI to VGA. It's digital to analog, so you'll need a box that does that conversion well. I believe just a cable (even though it looks like they make it) shouldn't work, maybe that's why the reviews all suck.

The scalar looks something like this: amazon link

For the other cable, you'll only need an HDMI to mini-HDMI cable it looks like.

As a side note, I'm checking out the connector and mini-HDMI looks pretty similar to regular HDMI. I wonder why so many formats when HDMI is fairly small already. I'm looking at the picture on this review: ASUS Eee Slate EP121 I just don't really see how they saved much room.
