Connecting DVI to component video

I'm trying to connect my computer (which has a 7800 GT with two DVI outputs) to my TV (which has RCA, S-Video, and Component Video inputs). I bought a "DVI-to-Component" adapter, which sadly turned out to have a male DVI connector (the 7800 GT has female outputs). I went to Radio Shack and though they didn't have a male-to-female DVI adaptor, they did have a male DVI-to famale VGA adaptor and a male VGA-to female DVI adaptor, which together amounted to the same thing.

Problem is, there is no result. I plug in my three adapters plus the composite cable (yeah, it looks ridiculous), but there is no output displayed on my TV.

Any ideas? I'm totally lost...

That's your problem. Those adapters need a DVI-I connection. Through all those wacky conversions you made, you "lost" those and that's why you have no picture. Order the correct cable and return those converters to Radio Shack.

Get the specific mini-DIN jack to component cable adapter for that series card. Ask eVGA or such. Normally they are included.

The array of adapters actually hung off the back of the computer. The screws didn't reach far enough on one of them and it kept falling off. 🙂
