Connecting Copier to Router

I have a Panasonic FP-D350 copier in a business without any internet or wired network. We are setting up a wireless network and would like the copier to be a shared printer on this network. I've configured a Linksys WRTG54 router for a wireless network and the other computer are working on this network. I then tried to plug the copier directly into port 1 of the 4 port switch on the router using a standard cat 5 cable from the copier's network port. However, I cannot get the copier to appear on the network. I have changed the setting on the copier to make it 'on-line' but I cannot find any other configuration settings.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

i don't know that copier specifically, but I have a Konica copier in this office that is on the network. Our copier has an extensive Networking menu that is navigable through a small touch-screen on the copier. You have to have something where you can assign an IP address or enable it to get an address via DHCP.

Is your router providing addresses ?? The copier probably is set to receive an address by default, but you need to make sure you have DHCP on in the router.

try reading the manual. If your router is handing out IP information via DHCP, the copier "should" get an address. You could look at the routers DHCP table to verify. Then ping that address, that will verify IP connectivity.

From there you may need to load special software or manually setup a print queue on machines or a server.

I can't read the manual as I don't have one and I haven't been able to locate one online.

I do have the router set to use DHCP but the copier is not grabbing an IP. I have not found anywhere in the menu to specify IP or DHCP so far. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the replies.
