I am having trouble power on my new PC. It has Abit IP35-E MB. I am thinking, that is might due me messing up Case Power/HD/reset/etc connections to the MB. Possibly, something else might be wrong too. Also, the case doesn?t have speaker/speaker connector, I am guessing that isn?t really need, right?

The MB has Power/reset/HD/etc label with + on side and ? on the other side. Meanwhile, the connectors from the case has a ?G? (I am guessing ground) label on one connector and /_\ (triangle) label on the other. Does the G go with the + or -?

Note, I already tried connecting the power both ways with no luck. So, I might be doing something else wrong.

List all components.

Pull power from the PSU. Make sure the 24/20 and 8/4 pin plugs are connected to the MB. Put the MB on the shipping box. Remove CMOS battery. Put CMOS jumper in clear position. Wait 1/2 hour. Install only CPU, GPU, mouse, keyboard, and one stick of RAM. Put back battery and CMOS jumper. Connect PSU to wall. Short the two power pins on the MB's header with a metal screwdriver. Board should POST.

I was trying to finishing build late last night. The wiring is sort of messy and quickly plugged in. Probably have PS, power connector, or something connected wrongly. After I get back home today, I will try play around with to see if I can get to power up at least. I am guessing/hoping it will work fine after I put some more time in to checking out.

Hmm, possibly changed tread title to can't power up comp since it seem to be going that direction. Anyhow, here my ccomp specs:

Intel e6750 w/ Zalman 7000 HFS
Abit IP35-E MB
HP DDR 667 1 GB x2
MSI 8500GT HDMI
Seagate 7200.10 500 GB 16 MB HD
Samsung SH-S203B Burner
Antec NeoHe 550 watts
Silverstone LC17 HTPC case

Ok, I found the problem. The case's power switch is broken it seems! I got it boot by using screw driver to connect the pins. Then I put in the reset switch in the power connector and that worked. So now I am stuck using the reset the switch as a power switch :(

I am not sure what to do about this. I was thinking about returning the case but I ended up putting some scratches on it. Also, broke on of mechanism for "hidden optical" drive bay by putting too much of pressure on switch of open the drive. I swear that could be case defect also. The case does have 1 year warranty but not sure if they could replace the switch easily and if I could actually install the new power switch. Any suggestions? I might to post about this in the case forum.

I noticed something usual with the MB powering up that I think I should mention. When connect power pin or hit the power button (really reset button), the system powers on for few secs and then powers off. Then again 2 secs later powers on and post/boot like normal. So basically when I hit power it startups (screen completely blank, so post here), then power off, then powers back on posts, boots like normal.

Note on restart it doesn't do so. I guess it does it only during cold boot.

Is that how the Abit IP35-E works? Most of my other systems just powers on in one run.

i agreed with the above note. that board is know for double boot. my suggestion to your switch is to get one from radio shack and replace it yourself for a few bucks. Then you don't have to deal with all the hassle of taking out and putting back all components
