Connecting case audio plugs to sound cards

I've always been meaning to find an answer for this....Most decent cases now have a speaker/headphone and mic jack on the front of them. These have connectors that connect to your motherboard for integrated sound. But, sound cards (like X-fi, audigy etc) do not seem to have this connector on it. It is possible to connect it through a bunch of rewiring, but why can't the card manufacturers just stick the header on the card so the case connector will plug in with no hassle? Any ideas? Is it just because creative thinks they'd lose money on their front drive bay device?
