Connecting Applie iPOD to Mazda 6.. Is it possible? Install Auxilary Input jack?

Ok, i'm gonna get a Apple iPOD and i want to hook it up to a Mazda 6. Well, you can't remove the 6 stereo console because it is integrated and an essential part to the car and it is a B*TCH removing it.

The 6 doesn't include a tape deck. Is it possible to install a Auxilary Jack so i can hook up my iPOD to it?

Btw, I dont' like the Wirless FM transmitter because it doesn't work too well..

When I was looking at a 6, my Mazda dealer told me the tape deck option was $250...too much for me. I had them investigate the stereo, and they said there were no aux inputs. Your best option is an FM transmitter. I've read some good reviews on them.

In which case...iTrip 🙂

Yeah I found the ITrip dosent work too well in urban areas with lots of radio stations so im going to go find a cassette adapter this week.

Well you say you cant remove the stereo rite? so how do you expect to get in and install an auxilary jack?

I can hook mine up to the Alpine stereo in my mustang.

I'm not a big fan of the non-replaceable stereos car companies are doing now.

How high is the quality on a cassette adapter? Will they deliver CD quality sound, or will they be limited to tape quality (22khz)? An FM transmitter is obviously limited to FM quality, but i'm curious about the cassette adapters.

holy crap, the iTRIP is a nifty feature... no batt? Awesome....

but at this point, i think i may just swap out my stereo system and put in a new one...

It's only a Mazda Protege 5.. =)
