Connecting an Xbox360 to my HP ZR30W Monitor

Hopefully someone here has tried this.....I'm normally a PC gamer, but I picked up an xbox 360 fairly cheap and I wanted to us my HP ZR30W monitor as the display. This monitor is great, but doesn't have many video outputs. My DVI port is used by my PC running at 2560X1600 resolution. I have just one other available Display Port. I bought an HDMI cable and a HDMI - DP connector. My problem is, when I hook up the xbox all I get is a blank screen upon touching the "source" button. I have a little TV on my desk with HDMI inputs, and when I hook the xbox up to it I get signal. So, I'm guessing that this converter is not driving enough pixels thru the DP to get a screen on the ZR30W? I don't want to use a DVI splitter, as I fear a reduction in the resolution/image quality from my video card to my monitor.

Any suggestions?

An HDMI to DP converter? I've never seen an HDMI to DP converter; the demand's not there (DP is only used in computer displays, which already accept DVI/HDMI). I strongly suspect you bought a DP to HDMI converter, which is for coverting DP output to HDMI for use with TVs. Converters are one-way devices, they don't work in reverse, which would explain why it's not working for you.

Your only practical option is to get a DVI switch. However switches that support dual-link DVI are incredibly expensive, so you may just be better off unplugging your PC and plugging in your 360 and vice versa.

The Xbox360 doesnt even do full 1080p there is no way you will get it to drive 2560x1600. When the 360 does a "full HD" tv of 1920x1080 it upscales the content and gives an artificial HD sort of. But it wont do 2560x1600 at all as far as i know. Upscaled or no.
