Connecting an ATA100 drive to a Asus A7V ?

I have connected my ATA 100 IBM Deskstar 30 gig to an Asus A7V by defining the drive as a non-IDE drive at setup. It is listed as an other-ScSI drive. I also set up the boot sequence to Floppy-Other-Cd. It works fine. However, the boot sequence takes a long time and I question whether the drive is operating at ATA 100.

Should I move the hard drive back to the Primary IDE controller in the BIOS?

To use the Promise controller as your boot drive on the A7V you should go to the BIOS and change two things:
1) The primary boot device should be the SCSI one (forgot the exact description)
2) The option for boot from onboard ATA controller should be enabled.

Of course the necessary drivers should be installed too. For Win2K, this must be done by installing on the ATA66 and then switching the drive to the Promise controller.

I just thought I'd mention this since it happens. you also have to use the ata/66 cable if you just use that ata/33 it won't work.

Question on set-up...has anyone had problems with the A7V set -up? I am having all kind of conflict problems and also have a problem with a missing driver. When I boot ..98 finds a PCI mass storage controller. All I have installed is a network card and a PCI scsi card (adaptec) and the drivers are loaded for these devices and they are both working. Does anybody have a good BIOS setup for this board?
