I just got my router to hook up my T1 and it didnt come with any instructions or anything.

I was just wondering how do I know what the ip address or the dns is for the router so I can ping it?

what brand router do you have?

you can set your NIC to get an IP via DHCP from the router. then from there, look at the gateway from "winipcfg" and you'll know the address of the router.

winipcfg for win9x or ipconfig for W2K
you can add /all after ipconfig to view all ip info

Are you talking about one of the SOHO/consumer level DSL/modem devices? Can they even be hooked up to a T1?

check the lucent web site. This should be a pretty basic config.

I sure hope you have a CSU otherwise you'll need to buy one for a few hundred dollars. Or does the router come with an integrated csu/dsu.

provide model number and maybe we can be of more help. Also when you say "hook up my T1" what do you mean? Hook up to what? An ISP? A local carrier, A long haul carrier, your buddies network? Your girlfriends access point (you know what I mean):)

more details.

You will need to get all that info from your ISP(IP address,DNS Servers,etc.. What ISP is this? We include a preconfigured Cisco router with our T1'S. Of course, I work for a Tier1 ISP though:D
