Connecting a second zone outdoor speakers.

We had an old receiver with 2 zones, and only two channels per zone, and both zones you connected the speaker wires directly to the receiver. We got a new 7.1 receiver, and all of the front, rear, and surround seem to be on one zone, with the speaker wire clips. The only second zone is a red and white set of plugs that a cord would plug into. How would I attach that to the wires to the outdoor speakers. Or would it just be easier to attach the outdoor speakers to the rear surround or something, since we are not utilizing its full 7.1 capabilities?
