Connecting a Geforce 4 TI 4200 with VIVO to the TV cable?

Hi Guys,

Ok, here is my problem, and I dunno much about this so i'm asking.

i just bought a new GeForce 4 with VIVO and the cable that it came with connects to the back card, then splits into 4 outputs. Two of them are S-video which i'm assuming are for video-in and video-out. Are the other two audio or are they composite cables also?

Also, my TV has no S-video, so i am trying to hook it up straight to the cable. Well, what kind of cables/converters do i need and where can i find them? I went to radio shack today and i could not find anything that would do the job it seems.
Any pointers would help a lot.

😉 Well to keep it short I decided to use my old VHS and simply used a standard lead to SCART (S-Video etc are fine too). I can then run a standard RF TV lead which is unlimited in length and hardly compromises quality (for gfx card TVout) and allows mw to use a 10m+ (30'+) standard lead ot send the signal to my big screen TV. Now I can send a signal to my big screen TV and when I get my TVcard I can watch VHS tapes on my monitor too!
 
You said your TV has no svideo, but does it have regular RCA (composite) connectors? If it does, one of those RCA cables coming out of the dongle on your card is composite out. You should be set. If not, like AnAndAustin said, you need an RF converter. 🙂
 

ok. i got the right cables. to convert straight from cable to RCA connector that i plug into the cable coming from the back of the computer. but now i have not been able to get any capture program to work or to recognize any signal.


heeeelp. 🙂 any suggestions?

If I understand you correctly you want to run the TV out through the VCR first, but that won't work very well. Video cards and even stand alone DVD players have Macrovision protection which can detect when a VCR is plugged in and it then kicks in to scramble the signal a bit. Macrovision was designed to prevent people from making VCR copies of DVD's. You will need a RF modulator or a new TV. Or I suppose you could try TV Tool but I don't know for sure if that software will work with your card, but it can disable Macrovision on many older Nvidia cards. You can give it a try though, but it only works for 15 minutes at a time unless you pay the $10 to get the full version.



 
Thats not really it, I dont care so much about tv out, as I do for the tv IN, I was just hoping to record some things, and make some funny video's, or perhaps record some sports games while I am at class, and come back and watch them on my computer (just to try new things) I am not trying to copy DVD's or the such!!!

Anyway, if I am doing tv out, I will likely just hook it up and play unreal 2003 (runs pretty sweet on my card so far...) on the old tv, but the video in is why I bought THIS CARD, so please, how do I record things that my tv is seeing???
