Connecting 2 PCs with a crossover cable

Howdy,

I want to play StarCraft on 2 PCs that aren't on any sort of network. Can I just connect them with a crossover cable and will that work? IF so, could you point me to where I can get instructions on doing this?

It's just a temporary thing with 2 laptops so I don't want to bring along a router and such to do it that way.

THanksl

plug the crossover in both nics and assign a static ip address in the same subnet for both, ie 192.168.1.1/24 and 192.168.1.2/24.

if your laptops have gigabit nics, theres a good chance you can use a regular straight through cable.
