Folk, need your help
I want to setup a secure connection with one of my freinds computer, staying in the same city. We both have broadband connections and are "always online"
Now we intend to exchange large files like movies, games etc using this exclusive connection.
We both use WIN XP and use personal firewalls(Mcafee).

What software / setup to we use for this purpose ?

TIA
Raghu

the best I have used was FaUp, works like a charm. Radmin also does the trick, although I havnt used it much for file transferring purposes.

VPN...only one of you ends to be the endpoint so only one of you needs a software/hardware solution.

I would recommed either

a) using and old pc as a vpn server and have the other connect to it.
b)have one of you buy a router that is capable of being a vpn endpoint and setting up a VPN that way

Thanks guys for your responses, but before I venture into this , do we need to have a static IP for this purpose. My NIC is configured for a "obtain IP and DNS server address automatically" by my ISP. Can I still go ahead with the suggested solutions ?

as for radmin or faup, you will have to manually update the server's IP each time it gets changed
I would imagine UltraVNC operates much or less the same way
