Connecting 2 Networks

So, my apt and the apt next to us are all good friends. We both are getting cable modems, and will each have our own networks.

My apt is hooked for gigabit between us, and we have a line that is going to the other apartment for gigabit also.

What we need to know is how can we connect our networks?

Keeping in mind that each apt will have its own Internet Connection, own DHCP server, and we have a single gigabit line that will connect them.

I'm assuming that we need to "bridge" them somehow, I'm just not sure how to do it.

Thanks in advance,

Well if you are going to have seperate routers i would just make it one big subnet but turn DHCP off on the routers and assign your apartment to the gateway of your router and assign their apartment to the gateway of their router so that you don't share internet bandwidth but can be on the same network.
