Connecting 2 Media Center PCs together??

I built a machine and installed XP Media Center 2005 on it. It's been working great for the past year. I've recently purchased another machine with MCE 2005, but it has no TV tuner. I wanted to be able to use this second machine essentially like a media center extender... is this possible? I haven't found a single bit of information about how to connect to media centers together. I thought this was half the point of the Operating System (the whole principal of the "digital home").

Thanks for any information any of you may have to provide!

MS has been working on software extender functionality for a while now (SoftSled), but I haven't heard anything about it in a while. Why not just share out your recordedTV, music, etc folders from your main MCE box and set them up as network drives and as the corresponding directories on the second box?

I thought about that ... It's just that I don't have a TV tuner in the second machine and wanted to use the tuner from the first one (sorta like the xbox extender and such). I guess i'll have to spring for another tuner and share things up like you mentioned... unless anyone else has any ideas?

Much appreciated though!

Hi,

I've been wondering that myself ptong! I only have 1 TV tuner card and 2 computers... a desktop and a laptop... and I would like the desktop to act as a server and the laptop as a client... I would like to somehow watch TV on the laptop over the network... like TV over LAN...

Snapstream has this software but it doesn't work with my TV tuner card.. so i'm trying to find another good software that will allow me to perform this task...

There is a nice program called Webguide 3 that will allow you to stream live tv over your local LAN. I use it mostly for being able to access my media center box's tv guide to schedule recordings.
