Has anyone gotten 2 Linksys WRT54G to share an internet connection via wireless networking? If so, can you give me detailed instructions on how to set this up.

I'm a complete networking noobie and am trying to get my replayTV and xbox hooked up to my wireless network via the 2nd WRT54G.

thanks

It has to be able to Function as Client.

If the new firmware makes it function as a client then you can use.

Unfortunatly the marketing poeple created a confusion between Real Bridge and a Driverless Client.

They call a Driverless Client a Bridge, and it is Not.

The link in my post above expalin he modes.

This is possible with hacked firmware..

You can do it a couple different ways.

Either use the linksys in client mode, or use WDS.

here is a good discussion of this...

Thanks but I'll need step by step instructions. No success thus far. I can ping computers attached to the 2 separate WRT54Gs (via wireless) but I can't share internet connection.

If you are Not comfortable with Hacking!

Linksys sells a device that can communicate with the WRT54G, it can be plugged into a regular Switch and connect to the Xbox TIVO etc.

Link to: WET54G.

You can actually plug it to the second Wireless Router through a regular port and use the second router as a Switch with an Access Point to connect to the "Boxes", and Extend your Wireless network.

Configuration instructions here: Using a Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point

More about it: Extending the Distance of Entry Level Wireless Network.
