I'm amazed it took so long for Schiff to get mentioned. I hinted about him in an earlier post, but even the posters rambling on about the Tea Party seem to think that McMahon is in their corner when she is quite clearly just another big business pocket stuffer reciting canned platitudes. It's a wonder any good people succeed in politics, so it's hard to resent the fact that sometimes the best candidates are ignored. C'est la vie.

Schiff has said that research shows he's hurting mostly by name recognition. The problem is fixing that costs money, and he's not getting the financial support the Paul's got.

It appears the Rasmussen poll cited in this thread was an extreme outlier. The lastest Quinnipiac poll (a local organization, to boot) shows Blumenthal still beating McMahon by 25%, with a +/- of 2.9% on a sampling more than double what Rasmussen used. Blumenthal's trustworthiness did slip (a given, considering they were roughly 80% before) but more significantly to me McMahon's negativity ratings are swelling.

All in all, if nothing else this shows how much BS there is in polling.

We have lots of Republicans here in CT, New England is the birthplace and traditionally the home of the GOP. What we don't have (except a few rare transplants) are the religious authoritarian/moral majority type GOP. These days our GOP are frequently called RINOs because they find it anathema to compel the rest of society how to live their lives. OUr GOP is more of a traditional small government, promote individual freedom type-an endangered species these days. Many, many town governments here are GOP run.

BTW, CT hasn't had a Democratic governor since Jan, 1991 and we have GOP in all but name Senator Joe Lieberman.

My personal belief is Linda McMahon will flame out, especially when the electorate realises she made her fortune off of pushing steriods. I hope she does get nominated though, Simmons would be a much tougher opponent.
