For illegal immigrants, Connecticut ID gives new haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. ? Dozens of people lined up at City Hall on Tuesday for municipal identification cards, the first city-issued ID cards specifically designed to bring illegal immigrants out of the shadows and give them access to community services.

The cards, available to New Haven's entire population, are meant to help anyone without a state- or federal-issued ID open a bank account and use other services that would otherwise be inaccessible.

It really just to opens the door to more freebies and makes it easier and cheaper to send money out of the country via bank transfers etc....

The good part:

Shortly after city officials approved the program, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted raids that led to about 30 arrests. City officials said the raids appeared to be retaliatory, but ICE officials said that's not the case.

Looks like the cities plan is going to backfire on them and make it much easier for ICE to round up illegals.

There are some groups posting maps and directions, in English and Spanish, on how to get to New Haven CT if you're an illegal alien.

Some groups will even pay for the trip.

The idea is that if New Haven wants to support them (as many as will go), then let's give 'em a hand; load 'em up and get 'em there.

Swamp the city with illegals. Sounds like a plan.

Your optimism is a bit short sighted. 30 illegals is less than 1/100th of the number that pour across the borders every single day. Government has no interest in rounding up illegals. Many of us know of locations that illegals habitually hang out at waiting for work. It would be child's play to pick them up and yet they rarely are.

Why would you want to give illegals access to community services?

Why don't they just box up the taxpayers' money and ship it down to Mexico and save everybody a lot of effort?
