My laptop says that I am connected, but I just get a blank browser when I try to go to google.com, yahoo.com, etc. I have tried several connections (wireless, wired, connect via my Treo), and several different browsers, but to no avail.

I am presently doing a scan with ad-aware, spybot, and AVAST, but wanted to know if you guys had any other ideas.

I would say hit IPConfig /all and see what kind of IP address you're getting. (Check to see if you ARE getting an IP address) Also, can you ping an outside address? (like google)

It's getting a normal 192.168.0.101 IP address when checking via ipconfig. And no, I could not ping google. ??

If you connect to a LAN without a gateway to Internet, you can't browse. What is your default gateway? and what is your router IPs? Please run ipconfig /all

It was a corrupt firewall (Sygate). That's the second time that has happened with Sygate. Which free firewall do you guys prefer?

I use Zonalarm, it works great, and after the first of those annoying permit messages, it's usually silent.

I use Windows Firewall set to No Exceptions (on WinXP) or set for the Public Location profile (on Vista).
