Connected to Internet but can't browse

Built my new computer a few months ago. Everything was working fine for about first few weeks but then every once in awhile I couldn't browse or use Outlook. It's gotten to be very frequent. I use Firefox but would also not get any love in IE either. Weird part is it will still have a connection since GTalk and UTorrent would still be working as well. Also internet and everything else would be working fine on my laptop which is connected wirelessly to my router, where as my desktop has hardline. Sometimes I can get it to work by "resetting" my adapter by disable and re-enabling or just unplugging and replug cat5 cable into my desktop. But that only works sometimes and is very annoying as 15 minutes later the same can't browse problem will exist.

When I can't browse I click for connection diagnosis and I get a DNS error cannot find server message.

I've browsed around to find solutions and done the following but nothing has helped.
-DNS Flush
-Disable Firewall
-Disable IPv6

I connect to the internet via hardline to by router. Here are some of my specs

-Windows 7 Home
-Onboard Motherboard adapter: Realtek PCIeGBE Family Controller. Driver version is 7.17.304.2010./ Driver is up to date.
-Connected via physical cable to the router which is in my room. Router is Netgear WPN824v2

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My new rig runs like champ but infuriating that I can't use it for the most common task.

Your DNS is not working.

start up cmd then type nslookup google.com and it will most likely fail.

This link should work - http://209.85.225.147/

If it does, then change your DNS to point to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

deb@debian:~$ nslookup google.com
Server: 192.168.10.1
Address: 192.168.10.1#53

Go over these steps and tell us where the breaking point is.

Check the Device Manager for valid Wireless card entry.

http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is No valid entry, delete any Bogus Entry, and re-install the Wireless card's Drivers.

Check the Network connections to make sure that you have a Wireless

Network Connection Icon/Entry, and that the Properties of the Icon (right click on the Icon) are correctly configured with TCP/IPv4 protocol in the Network Connections Properties.

http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

------------------
Many Wireless cards' drivers also install the vendor's Wireless utility.
Make sure that if there is a vendor's Wireless Utility thes Not Running together with the Windows native Wireless utility (WLAN Service) .
----------------
Make sure that No Firewall is preventing/blocking the Wireless components to get to the Network.

Some 3rd party Software Firewalls keep blocking aspects of Local Traffic even it they are turned Off (disabled). If possible configure the

Firewall correctly, otherwise totally uninstall it, and get rid of its residual processes to allow clean flow of local network traffic.

If the 3rd party software is uninstalled or disables, make sure that Windows native Firewall is On .

3rd party Network mangers like Bonjour, and NetMagic can block local traffic too.

---------------------------
Working TCP/IP stack should look this way.

Right click on the Wire card Network Connection, choose Status, Details, and see if it got an IP and the rest of the settings.

http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/status-nic.jpg

Description is the card manufacturing data.

Physical address is the card's MAC number.

The xx should be a number from 0 to 255 (all xx same number).
yy should be from 0 to 255
zz should be from 0 to 255 (all zz the same number.

The lease date should be valid to the current time.

*Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is not valid functional IP.

*Note 2. There might be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet traffic or LAN. They are needed for Win 7 special
HomeGroup configuration.

---------------------------------------------------
A message in the Wireless little Window that says Connected does not means that your are really have a valid functional connection.
If everything above is OK you have to be able to connect to the Router.
Connecting to the Router means that you can enter the Router's core IP into an address bar of a browse, be able to connect, see, and configure the Router's menus.
If it does not connecting to the Router, log from any computer that can connect to Wireless Router with a Wire, disable the Wireless Security, make sure that the Wireless broadcast SSID is On, and try to connect with No Wireless security.
Enable the Wireless security after you mange to establish a functional connection.

@Vinyl - Here is what I got when I did that nslookup google .com

Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.1.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: google.com
Addresses: 74.125.224.51
74.125.224.50
74.125.224.48
74.125.224.52
74.125.224.49

I did this command when everything (internet and browsing) was working. Since I made my post I've found that whenever I can't browse all i have to do is disable the adapter and then enable it and it works everytime. It's annoying but works. Does this help at all? Should I still change my DNS like you suggested. Unfortunately I'm pretty dumb when it comes to how to do that stuff.

@JackMDs - Most of your reply had to do with Wireless. I have no wireless adapter on my desktop. I connect with the Wired connection into my Mobo.

I've had this issue with about 5 computers, all with Realtek PCIeGBE Family onboard controllers with Windows 7.

It would seem to act like a DNS problem, but in my case it was all down to the drivers.

Try downgrading them to this version : 7.6.820.2009 (That version I know works, as it worked on all 5 of the computers that had the issue).

Latest driver version does it more frequently...

The disabling and then re-enabling tells me that it is most likely the same issue.

You should be doing that command when it's not working to see what happens. This might be more of a driver issue though.

still having issues here. I updated to the most recent driver (can't find the older file someone mentioned) and my browser, outlook, etc still craps out the connection from time to time. Super annoying.

At this point if I can't figure out a software solution, would buying a NIC take care of it? I'm more than willing to drop $40 to make this go away.

Here are Diagnostics details that I get when I hit "troubleshoot problems" when my connection fails. Again, the actual connection is fine as Dropbox and other stuff is still working fine.
