Connect two computers with LAN and W2k

I have two computers running Windows 2000 professional connected by a LAN connection with a twisted-patch cable. The connection seems to work ok, but it is the folder/talking part that is the problem even though I have set the folders in the MOON computer to be shared with everyting.

I can get it so that it recognizes the computer named MOON from the one called SILVER (my main one), in the MY NETWORK PLACES window. But if I double click on the MOON it gives a warning box saying ""\\MOON IS NOT ACCESSIBLE. THE NETWORK PATH IS NOT FOUND". I havent had any luck trying to map the network drive either.:frown:

I have tried mapping drives, mucking around with the NETWORK ID stuff, and everything I have been suggested online. BAH!!!:brokenheart: Where have I gone wrong? If you have a suggestion to my problem or have a website that will set me in the right direction, PLEASE post.

Basically I just want it so that the SILVER computer can see all the files and grab them from the MOON computer. It sure didn't seem that hard when I came up with the idea...

For the pupose of setting Disable all Firewalls Virus programs etc.

If you spend too much time and it does not work.

Install NetBEUI, better chance with NetBEUI since it does not use IP numbers.

By specificaly doing what you said, "For the pupose of setting Disable all Firewalls Virus programs etc.". It worked right away!!! Then it was just problem solving the barriers. Norton had no problems with anything, it was all my ZONEALARM! Then with it connected, all connections working, and Norton running I opened up ZONEALARM. I then tied to open a connection and it didn't work, but this created a LOG entry under ALERTS in ZONEALARM. I looked at this for a bit and saw you can just hit a button that says ADD TO ZONE, and then TRUSTED.
