connect to home pc from work pc

I've moved to a new job recently. I do work in IT but I'm unable to use remote desktop to connect to my home PC. It seems they are blocking the port. Is there a way around this? Any other app maybe?
 
Edit ..... Sorry, had to change my answer, I did not notice that it done contra to IT configuration.
