Connect My Computer To A Switcher

I am trying to connect my old computer to my TV which also has a LG Home Theater System (something like this one). My buddy helped me set it up, and he left an audio/video switcher so I can connect other audio devices to it.

I figured I would connect an HDMI cable from my computer to my TV for the video. Since I want my audio to come from my home theater speakers, I will need to connect it to the audio/video switch. I was thinking of running a line from my speaker output from my computer to the audio input on the switch. Is this the best idea? In addition, what sort of cables do I need. I was thinking of getting a Y Switch cable. Will that work?
