Connect fans to mb or P/S?

Is it best to connect your case fan(s) to the motherboard (3-pin) or power supply (4-pin)? How about for a fan on a heatsink? I would guess the HS fan would go to the motherboard, but not sure about the case fans. Is one way better than the other?

also: will I need to buy screws for installing the fan(s), or is that something that comes with your case?

What kind of case did you buy? Many Antecs and other cases have plastic holders for fans so you do not have to screw them in. If it does not have a holder you will need to purchase screws Have you purchased a case already? Fans will come with either 3 pin connectors or 4 pin connectors as you know. Neither is better right now. Beware of connecting large or extremely powerful fans to the motherboard as you can short things. By large I mean 120mm and by powerful I mean things like Vantec Tornados. For the HS and every other fan it really does not matter where you connect it, but if the fan you have has a 3 pin connector and RPM monitoring, connecting it to the motherboard will let you see how fast the fan is going. You can buy power adaptors for fans here. SVC (where the links point to) is a good store to buy cooling supplies.

I'm looking at getting the Antec SLK2600AMB.
And none of the fans should be as big/powerful as that, so I should be okay hooking them to the motherboard. Thanks.
