^ thats fine, its not me whos wanting to do this, its my girlfriends father.... he has an ADSL and sat link in the house and at the moment to use both he has to physically go plug hunting to swap between them
just being able to right click and disable in XP's networking panel would probably be ideal.....
his machine is a rather old HP machine though, upgrading the motherboard is out of the question i feel. I guess a dual port Ethernet card would effectively do the same job though? ill have a look for one of those.
im not sure how the sat link works, i know the adsl line needs the modem before connecting to the computer, im hoping the sat link has its own box that sorts that stuff out and you just plug it in via ethernet. Another problem is he cant seem to access any email accounts via outlook when on the sat link, but i assume this is probably an issue with the satalite provider and where they route his signal. or can you fix that by using proxies or gateways?
