Congressperson Jane Harman: Bush lied about a terror threat against the Capitol to have new FISA bill passed

I saw this on Countdown last night, but this is the only link i've been able to find.

http://thinkprogress.org/2007/.../harman-terror-attack/

I did find it a little odd how quickly the Congress caved on that issue. So instead of it being typical non-specific democratic apprehension, it was very specific fear. Still, anybody who bought this magical threat appearing just when it was needed needs to get their head checked.

I didn't find a topic on this for the last 3 pages so I'm assuming this is new.

I love how everytime the Democrats continue with the status quo for Bush their excuse is "We cant think for ourselves, Bush scared us, oh noes!" and think the American people are so stupid to believe a bunch of career politicians can be so easily lead.

Honestly, anybody who think the democrats passed that because of this alert needs to stop sniffing crack.

Or maybe I am wrong and the democrats are nothing but simpletons who simply react to external stimulation. Much like a single celled amoeba.

I love how, every time Bush's major lies are exposed, some moron posts that it's the Democrats' fault for believing the lies at the time they're told.

Of course, they have a point. By now, it should be obvious that EVERYTHING Bush says is a lie.

You are unfortunately correct. On the other hand, Bush will use such things against the dems. The way rovian politics works is to push the dems to one extreme or the other. I say the dems should just grow a pair and knock him out flat on everything rather than trying to keep the status quo to make 2008 more tenable.

Maybe you wouldn't see them as simple thinkers if you weren't one yourself, at least as you demonstrate here. My own, naturally far more profound analysis, of course in my opinion, here would be that the Democrats aren't simpletons at all but sophisticated judges of the electorate's mood and if the electorate is frightened they will do what it takes to calm them and retain their vote. Just a guess naturally.

It's blazin' amazin' that as dumb as Bush is he can still fool the Democrats any day of the week. That tricksy, tricksy Bush.

I am starting to believe in the camp that says if GWB's lips move, its a lie. There is actually a way to get around this. Write into the legislation language to the effect, if the input is proved to be later hyped, the law becomes null and void and a congressional committee has the power to make that discrimination. Further, that anyone who told that lie will be removed from government service.

But correct me if I am wrong, but the FISA law was merely temporarily ratified for only a limited longer time and again comes up for review soon..

Yeah but apparently Bush has another scare tactic waiting for those hapless dems to keep it going until his term runs out.

I guess you (or Bush for that matter) never heard the story about the boy who cried wolf.

THough i'm rather annoyed with the dems, there is a difference between tricking somebody or outfoxing them, and just lying like a POS, which is all bush does really. This was just a blatant lie.

If Bush hasn't heard the story we could always e-mail him a link to your post history.

Since skunks tend to smell their own holes, I think he would identify with your lies/posts better. 😛

No, it was "My Pet Goat."

Personally I think it's disgusting that Bush would read Tasmanian porn to school children.

He said that we said that she said that my cousin's nextdoor neighbor said that the alleged terrorist threat was bogus. No, it's true, I swear!

It was probably a combination of two things, to be realistic.

Number one: Some of the Democrats who voted for the bill are just as big of pricks as Bush and his party van is.

Number two: The others who voted in favor truly believe in the presidents position, and wanted to believe what he said. Not so bad, IMO. Stupid, but not bad.

You GOP supporters have absolutely nothing to be gloating about. This is just more proof that it doesn't matter which side we have in power, they're just different flavored dung piles.
