I love it when this stuff happens to good god fearing christian conservatives. Fvcking hypocrites.

I don't believe Foley ever portrayed himself as a god fearing christian.

Oh, so he ran on the Gay Republican Child Predator platform? I'll withdraw my accusation then. So sorry.

The gay republican child predator platform is the GOP's new contract with america

Foley is gay. This guy is in his late 40s, unmarried, and has had rumors swirling around him about being gay for several years in the South Florida community. Friends and colleagues have said he goes around as gay socially.

And, while I think what he did was pretty disgusting on several different levels, I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment - The page he sent all these e-mails and IMs to was 16. The age of consent in Washington DC is 16. Does that still make him a child predator?

If you want to get into the partisan tit-for-tat, the Dem Congressman was caught having sexual relations (not just sending dirty IMs) with a 17 year old page back in the 80s. He refused to resign and it took evil Republicans to have him censured after Dems refused to have him expelled. This congressman then was continually re-elected until his retirement 16 years later. Does that make the Dem party the party of Child Predator enablers?

Wow, I can hardly believe that abcnews transcript. That's pretty explicit for a major network to broadcast. I'm dissapointed that he didn't reveal his penis size. Although I'm glad to know he masturbates.

i guess i've been overly desensitized from college... i thought it was pretty lame.

Seems like both parties have their share of problems... only difference is, Republicans resign when they get caught.

if you think they're resigning for anything other than political purposes...

?

That is completely dependent on the situation, not to mention unfounded.

Can you show me quotes where Foley has been a God spouter? As I said in a previous post, this guy is Gay and has been living a Gay lifestyle in South Florida.

Conversely, couldn't you say the Dems are hypocritical of this situation when they had a Congressman serve 5 more terms after he was caught having sexual relations (not just dirty IMs) with a 17 -year old page?

Oh...I'm sure Clinton didn't say anything nasty to ML while she was sucking his dick.

And I'm sure Clinton never said anything nasty to any other female subordinate.

Now don't get me wrong...I like Clinton; he was a really good president.

But is there a whole lot of difference in the "unethical nature" of (1) a gay congressman having dirty conversation with a page and (2) a president getting blown by an intern? IMO, No.

Guys, to call him a hypocrite is absurd. He has voted in FAVOR of gay rights since he started in politics and is endorsed by the Log Cabin Republicans (a PAC of gay Republicans).

In fact, he has NEVER aligned himself with the Religious Right and members of his own party (along with liberal gay activists) have been trying to destroy his career for years now.

He is also a member of the Republican Liberty Caucus. A group that is strongly aligned with libertarians.

As for the page being 16... yeah, that's just wrong. But that is assuming the IM records are not fabricated in whole or in part.

This can't be right Amused. Everyone knows that Republicans walk around everday with Bibles in hand qouting verses at every passerby and declaring that all that disagree with them are going to hell.

Not in DC...others have mentioned that age of consent is 16 in DC.

Talk about grasping for straws.

Even the news reports added a caveat saying IM records are easily changed or fabricated.

I would never accept IM records as proof of anything since they are so easily altered or fabricated.

Still, 16 is just wrong.

At any rate, I have no horse in this race. I'm just pointing out facts to counter the myth fueled lynch mob in this thread.

For me, it was that I think there was always that little bit of gay inside...The anonymity of the internet is still relatively new

I believe that Queasy's point is, and he can correct me if I'm wrong, that with as little as Foley has mentioned God and christianity, you're not anymore justified calling him a hypocrite than you would a democrat in the same situation.
