Years ago, he had his own crew working for new home builders, until the influx of illegal labor drove him out. He was being underbid by half of his usual fee. Or instead of keeping the prices artificially deflated they could of allowed it to inflate like everything else then maybe we would of came up with a way to mechanize most of it or change our eating habits. Blaming the end consumer for this is straight retarded. The farmers are to blame for hiring them and the government is to blame for doing nothing about it and subsidizing the farmers. If you were talking about people who were getting their houses remodeled and actually had a direct affect the hiring then sure your argument would work.

The real trick of it is to reform the system without putting the producers out of business. It's all well and good to say "let them hang", however once a farm is sold to a strip mall developer there is no getting it back. In that case we have more than wage inflation- we have supply issues.
