The only possibility I can think of for why they would do it would be a serious grudge coupled with a long-term plan to stick the blame on the Dems.

Even if Congress was controlled by the Dems, they still wouldn’t deny Trump the Presidency. That would be to open a new civil war.

I agree it's dumb. It would be a very bad look if it happened. That's why I asked if it really had any merit, as I hadn't seen it mentioned here.

But I'm not sure we have trump for 4 years no matter what. I'm not sure his mental health condition will hold up that long. He seems worse by the day.

They have the Power, but not the Will. You need Republican support to do such a thing. You also need a large majority, 1 vote over is hard to justify such an action.

Joe could have him arrested and/or assassinated. Total immunity because he regards him as a threat to national security. Same for Vance and Johnson. There would be much gnashing of teeth.

A better thread title would be Congress has the Ineptitude to Prevent Trump from taking office.

The first order of business for the new House is to choose a Speaker. This must happen before any other business (like ratifying the election).

The GOP has what, a one or two vote margin with many of their own extremists refusing to vote for Johnson.

I believe the Dems have said they won’t be helping elect Johnson.
If that happens how long does it take the House to get its shit together? Do they get it done by Jan 6th? Jan 20th?

An absolute shit show is highly likely.

As for the January 6 tour, it has been revealed that the FBI had plants to instigate the small , small number of people that actually committed a crime. The rest were let in and were peaceful. Who commits an "insurrection" without firearms????? Syria was an insurrection just to put your illusions in perspective.

Funny how the FBI made me do it or I was just wandering around were not effective defenses for the hundreds convicted of crimes on Jan 6th.
