Congratulations Robert Kubica!

The race was a bit of a confusion packed mess which saw Lewis Hamilton take out Kimi Raikkonen at the end of pit road which basically handed the race win to BMW.

The track was getting torn up by the end of the race too with loads of rubber marbles built up off the racing line.

Let us see how he does in France on June 22 ... The Canada race, while interesting
had a few unusual twists, including that idiotic crash on pit exit.

BMW have been pretty competitive. Kubica almost tool pole yesterday except for that fantastic lap by Lewis Hamilton.

Speed is showing the race again on wednesday for those that missed it. Fox cut the post race interviews short. :|

They always do that and I fucking hate Fox for it. :| ABC is just as bad or even worse though. At least they had a decent crew commentating (Hobbs, Matchett, Windsor and Varsha). Although, Peter Windsor's role was extremely minor this weekend.

I was really interested in hearing what David Couthard had to say about the race and the condition of the circuit.

I was at the race today! I'm deaf and sunburnt but it was fun. 😀

Too bad for Hamilton, he was alot quicker than everybody else early on, but he screwed up.

Yeah I wanted to hear what Nick had to say. This track owed Robert that win though. 🙂 Hopefully BMW can keep building momentum and win another one later in the season.

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are both going to serve a 10 grid spot penalty at the next race in France for their part in that completely avoidable accident in pit lane.

I don't know the rules or reasons why, but pit exit was closed meaning those that pitted couldn't go back on the track. There's a big red light to stop them at pit exit.

Kubica and Kimi stopped. Hamilton and Rossberg, kept going. Hilarity ensued

The pace car was going by with the rest of the field behind it at slow speed. The red light is to keep pit lane traffic from entering the track as the rest of the field is going past.

Raikkonen and Kubica both had better stops than Hamilton so they got out ahead of him and stopped for the red light. I don't think Hamilton was paying attention and by the time he realized that both cars were stopped in front of him it was too late to avoid plowing into the back of Raikkonen's Ferrari.

The impact broke the rear wing on the Ferrari and the front win on Hamilton's McLaren Mercedes and also damaged the front suspension on his car as well.

I like how Kimi is a class act when it comes down to these sorts of things, time and time again. If this had happened to Piquet or Senna or Schumacher they would not have had such a calm and measured reaction.

He might have been drunk. Haha.

Agreed. That little incident would have come to blows with any of those other drivers.

I remember a number of years ago at Spa, Schumacher was leading the Belgian Grand Prix in a torrential downpour and as he came around a corner David Coulthard, who was travelling much slower-I think he had a problem and was nursing it back to the pits, moved over into the racing line and Schumacher couldn't avoid him, hell, you could barely see him in the spray and he plowed into the back of him. Both cars managed to limp back to the pits and when Schumacher got out of the car he stormed straight down to the McLaren garage but was held back by a few mechanics.

Kubica is obviously a great driver, but it's sad to see his first victory happen somewhat by attrition. It would be a much sweeter win if Hamilton and Raikkonen were still in the race.

I haven't given it a lot of thought but I really don't understand the reasoning of closing the end of the pits. It seems like it can only cause more problems than it solves. Under race conditions merging out of the pits into triple digit traffic speeds isn't given a second thought. But they don't trust these guys to merge with 60mph or whatever it is pace-car traffic? Pace car speed in an F1 car must feel like car wash speeds.
