Congrats NWM! They could not have chosen a better guy and ... you could not have chosen a better pic! :)

They run very fast, kick a.. very hard and are great on networking - once they get their heads grounded, they can hear other birds for miles and others too
(why do you think they'd stick their heads in the sand?? In dirt sound moves faster and stronger than in air! ;) :D

Heh - from what I've read when they become frightened ostriches can get up to about 40 mph and sustain it for a decent time as well. Pretty decent defense strategy, plus as you say, they've got a pretty mean kick too. :)
