I hate to bother people here , but I need advice.

My son is leaving for college, which is killing me to begin with. But I am building him a new PC for him to use at school.

He is a gamer, both using Xbox and PC games. He would like a montior that doubles as a TV for games, or a TV he can use as a monitor for his PC.

The video card answer used to be easy, your favorite flavor of video card with TV in/out on the GPU, like an ATI All in One, Now I have no idea.

Currently, he is getting a 7800GT in the PC, with a Q6600 and a P35 mobo. Are their cards you can buy for a PC for TV in/out?

What is a good dual TV/Monitor to look fo these days in a small space like a dorm room or apartment?

Thanks for the info!

Better to buy a separate tuner so you don't need to replace both if you have issues with one. General hardware can almost certainly give better specific advice, seeing it's primarily a gaming rig,

Buy a 22-24" LCD with a component input for the monitor/display
7800gt is fine
and get a separate tv tuner card for watching tv.

the computer/tv signal will come in through the dvi, and when your son wants to use his xbox, just switch the input on the monitor to component. the audio can continue to come out through the computer speakers.

If he uses an Xbox 360 then tell him to snag the VGA cable and that will work on just about any monitor that accepts VGA (and it scales to PC resolutions too).
