Confusion in having Video card

Guys,

I have limited budget after all adjustments......im left with two options.....

whether to have 8800GTS and e4400 core 2 duo proc

or

to have e6750 core 2 duo and XFX 8600GT fatality..... the point is whether i can play upcoming games at atleast 1280X1024 resolution with max setting with 8600GT fatality card?? or E4400 is enuf to power up the games along with 8800GTS card...??

if 8600GT fatality is sufficient for upcoming games then I will go for E6750 and will upgrade the gpu later......

Im in real confusion guys pls help me....!!!

Abit IP-35E, E4500 O/Ced to 3.0+ gHz and 8800GT 512 (release date 10/29) and you'll be set for awhile

Seconded, e4500 OC and 8800GT-512 launching Monday ~$250.

Check out this recent review at xbitlabs where they cover quite a number of games and several cards including the 8600GT/GTS, HD2600XT, x1950pro and the 8800GTS-320. They concluded:

We have to acknowledge once again that graphics cards like ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT GDDR4 and Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT/GTS are often unable to deliver high performance in modern games, at least when the gamer doesn?t want to compromise and reduce the level of detail or when he wants to play in resolutions higher than 1280x1024. Our tests show that such cards often turn to be slower than previous-generation solutions such as ATI Radeon X1950 Pro.

For gaming you are always better off with more gpu than cpu because cpu prices tend to fall faster than gpu prices so it is cheaper in the long run to upgrade the cpu. It also tends to be easier to sell an old cpu than an old video card.
