confusing HD problem.

Had a 200 gig WD in my box, would randomly stop showing up when I'd boot. So I ditched it and bought a new 320 WD. Having the same problem, and both I'd notice sometimes when they were detected durring POST, would just stop working when windows comes up. Sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 5 hours. Thinking it might be connected to a bad molex, I tried another. I was watching a video clip and all of a sudden I heard a click from the HD and boom it vanished. The only thing I can think of is my PSU is messed up. But, nothing else on my PC has issues, I'm not running a super high end system. x800 with a 3700+, 2 HD's and 1 optical drive plus 3 fans.

Any other idea what it could be?

Did you change the cables when you changed drives? What Motherboard are you using? List the specs of your system including psu.

different SATA cable, MB is a Gigabyte GNS something 939 (with agp) PSU is Ultra X-Connect. People will probably jump on the PSU as the problem. But, I took out the video card (x-800) same issue, with 1 HD it works fine, when I plug them both in, I start to get issues. I tried different molexs with the same issue. I am going to get a new PSU just to see if that can somehow be the problem.
